Description

This is the visitor center and plaza at the Patuxent Research National Wildlife Refuge. Although it has an aged patina the building was only planned in 1984 and completed and opened to the public in 1994. it has a striking modernist style that has served its purpose well of educating the public to wildlife issues of local and national concern in its spacious and sunlit interior. The exterior combo of Chesapeake green roof and doorways with stone like entrance scaffolding is especially pleasing.
